Community Impact: Survey shows median household income, educational attainment rises in Katy, Fulshear area.

Fulshear residents have a higher median household income and more have graduated college compared to the surrounding area, according to five-year estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.

The 2022 results, which were released Dec. 7, show the median household income in Fulshear dropped between the 2022 five-year estimates and 2017 five-year estimates. However, Fulshear households still make more than the surrounding area at more than $170,000.

Meanwhile, the median household income in the city of Katy, Katy ISD boundaries and Lamar CISD boundaries increased in that time. The school districts’ populations include residents inside the district’s boundaries, not student enrollment.

More Fulshear residents are also college graduates, with 72.6% of residents having a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Overall, the educational attainment increased when comparing 2017-22 for residents in the city of Katy, city of Fulshear, Katy ISD boundaries and Lamar CISD boundaries, as more residents age 25 or older had a high school diploma or a bachelor’s degree or higher between the five-year estimates.
